At the Human Rights Education Institute it is our mission to promote human rights as an essential element of a just and successful democracy. We serve the community by collaborating with other area organizations and educational institutions to provide programs, exhibits, public forums, and networking opportunities to address human rights issues that impact our community and to encourage public dialogue about these issues. HREI was established in Coeur d’Alene in 1981. Our tax ID# is 82-0506112.
We are devoted to fiscal responsibility amid our efforts to engage and mobilize the community and address common human rights education issues. Every project in which we are involved begins with thoughtful decision-making that minimizes wasted effort among our community partners and maximizes the collective impact of local resources. HREI works hard to fund and produce many regional resources and programs through grants and community partnerships. This process allows for multi-year funding and larger impact around human rights issues.
Donors, both corporate and individual, account for the majority of financial support to HREI. Through your gift, you not only provide education opportunities for our children and community, but you help shape a more welcoming and inclusive future for our region.
