In Defense of Public Education Panel Discussion
In Defense of Public Education Panel Discussion
Public education is at a critical juncture in Idaho. In addition to its usual challenges, including educator burn-out, budget cuts, or inequitable access to technology in rural schools, public education has come under intense scrutiny in recent months for the alleged indoctrination of students with leftist ideologies.
In the midst of an ongoing pandemic, public schools in Idaho are facing an uphill battle with diminishing support from their legislature. An important upcoming election approaches for local school boards and there are many bills directly or indirectly related to public education on the docket. We invite you to hear from a panel of education stakeholders within our local community and learn more about how you can advocate for a robust public education system in Idaho.
Our panelists include:
Derek Kohles, local high school social studies and English teacher
Brian Seguin, local higher-education librarian and Diversity Council Chair
Keri Cederquist, Community Impact Director at United Way of North Idaho
Luke Mayville, Reclaim Idaho (Quality Education Act ballot initiative)
This is a FREE educational event. All are welcome. We ask that all participants respect diverse points of view and listen intently to understand.
Registration is required for Zoom access. Participants may also watch the panel live or view it later on Civic Engagement Alliance’s Facebook page.
