Finding Our Place in the Inland Northwest -Who is My Neighbor
Dec. 8 – Who Is My Neighbor? At St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Increasing political, racial, economic, and religious discord has spread across the country and has reached high heat in North Idaho. A “live and let live” motto in Idaho is becoming replaced by the intensity of “confrontational politics” that finds little value in compromise, cooperation, or efforts toward mutual respect. But confrontational and posturing approaches are not new to North Idaho. White supremacy and White separatism have a long history in the Inland Northwest and a particularly noteworthy history in Coeur d’Alene and Hayden. What does it mean to be neighbors in such a climate?
